Oddly, this image shows giant spiders in the background, which don’t feature in his encounter at all. Nezznar’s artwork matches up with how he was depicted in Lost Mines of Phandelver, although this image shows him in context, standing in the Shrine of Dumathoin. We also get artwork for some of the threats in the Wave Echo Cave, like an ochre jelly, the wraith Mormesk, a spectator, and Nezznar the Spider. This chapter opens with an image of the three Rockseeker brothers discovering the entrance to the Wave Echo Cave, while being spied upon by a pair of bugbears, which is pretty much the backstory for this whole section of the adventure. Also, like the previous entries in this review series, we’re going to be going into spoiler territory, so if you want to be surprised or you are planning on playing in this adventure, you may want to circle back around to this later. As with the previous chapters, there are some tweaks here and there, as well as some added foreshadowing. This was the finale of Lost Mine of Phandelver, and it will mark the final section of Phandelver and Below that reprints and updates the original adventure. Today we’re going to look at Wave Echo Cave.
